Count Nouns คือ คำนามที่สามารถนับได้ หมายถึง สิ่งของหรือสิ่งที่สามารถแยกออกเป็นหน่วยย่อย ๆ ได้ เช่น โต๊ะ เก้าอี้ คน สัตว์ ผลไม้ ผัก เป็นต้น

ตัวอย่าง Count Nouns

• โต๊ะ (Tables)
• เก้าอี้ (Chairs)
• คน (People)
• สัตว์ (Animals)
• ผลไม้ (Fruits)
• ผัก (Vegetables)

ลักษณะของ Count Nouns

Count Nouns มีลักษณะดังนี้

• สามารถเพิ่มจำนวนได้โดยใช้ตัวเลขหรือคำนามนับไม่ได้ เช่น
  • โต๊ะหนึ่งโต๊ะ (One table)
  • เก้าอี้สองตัว (Two chairs)
  • คนสามคน (Three people)
  • สัตว์สี่ตัว (Four animals)
  • ผลไม้ห้าผล (Five fruits)
  • ผักหกอย่าง (Six vegetables)
• สามารถใช้คำนามนับไม่ได้มาขยายได้ เช่น
  • โต๊ะไม้ (Wooden table)
  • เก้าอี้พลาสติก (Plastic chair)
  • คนสวย (Beautiful person)
  • สัตว์น่ารัก (Cute animal)
  • ผลไม้สีแดง (Red fruit)
  • ผักสด (Fresh vegetable)

การใช้ Count Nouns

Count Nouns สามารถใช้ได้ดังนี้

• ใช้เป็น Subject ของประโยค เช่น
  • โต๊ะอยู่ในห้อง (The table is in the room.)
  • เก้าอี้อยู่ตรงนั้น (The chair is over there.)
  • คนกำลังเดินอยู่ (The people are walking.)
  • สัตว์กำลังเล่นอยู่ (The animals are playing.)
  • ผลไม้อยู่บนโต๊ะ (The fruits are on the table.)
  • ผักอยู่ในตู้เย็น (The vegetables are in the fridge.)
• ใช้เป็น Object ของประโยค เช่น
  • ฉันเห็นโต๊ะ (I saw the table.)
  • ฉันนั่งเก้าอี้ (I sat on the chair.)
  • ฉันรู้จักคนนั้น (I know that person.)
  • ฉันเห็นสัตว์ (I saw the animal.)
  • ฉันกินผลไม้ (I ate the fruit.)
  • ฉันทำอาหารด้วยผัก (I cooked with the vegetables.)
• ใช้เป็น Complement ของประโยค เช่น
  • นี่เป็นโต๊ะของฉัน (This is my table.)
  • เก้าอี้นั้นเป็นของฉัน (That chair is mine.)
  • คนนั้นเป็นเพื่อนฉัน (That person is my friend.)
  • สัตว์นั้นน่ารัก (That animal is cute.)
  • ผลไม้นั้นอร่อย (That fruit is delicious.)
  • ผักนั้นสด (That vegetable is fresh.)

ความแตกต่างระหว่าง Count Nouns และ Non-Count Nouns

Count Nouns แตกต่างจาก Non-Count Nouns ตรงที่ Count Nouns สามารถนับได้ ส่วน Non-Count Nouns ไม่สามารถนับได้

• น้ำ (Water)
• อากาศ (Air)
• ความรัก (Love)
• ความเกลียดชัง (Hate)
• ความสุข (Happiness)
• ความเศร้า (Sadness)
